Mario Mushroom Marshmallow Pops & Mario Mustache Chocolate Pops - April 2015

Chocolate Camera Candy Goodie Bag Favors - April 2015

I originally had planned to make these chocolate camera candies for the goodie bags at my daughter Carissa's photography themed birthday party, but unfortunately I ran out of time 😕 (you can see the cake here and some goodie bag cookies here).  We had taken pictures of my daughter with each party guest to print out and put in a homemade frame so everyone could take it home from the party, but that morning my printer decided to run out of ink. 😖 So, I decided we would just deliver the pictures to everyone at a later date (I didn't expect it to be such a later date, but better late than never, right.? 😉)  The good thing was that now I could make the camera candies and include them with the picture and frame. 😊

Camera Sugar Cookies - November 2014

I made these camera sugar cookies to put in the goodie bags at my daughter Carissa's 10th birthday party.  To see the cake for this party you can go to this post.

I made sugar cookie dough, rolled it out, and cut out rectangles.  After they were baked and cooled I melted some chocolate almond bark and used it to pipe some simple camera details onto the cookies.

Minecraft Creeper Marshmallows - April 2014

These creeper marshmallows from Minecraft were for the goodie bags at my son's 12th birthday.  (You can see the cake from the party here.)

I bought square marshmallows at the store and airbrushed all sides green.  It didn't matter if they were covered really evenly because the video game has that pixel-y look anyway.  After they dried I used a black edible marker to draw the creeper faces on them.

I thought they were pretty cool, and they kids all loved them.  :)

Giant 3D Donut Cake - November 2010

I made this giant 3D donut cake for my donut-loving daughter, Carissa's, 6th birthday.

I also made these little baby donuts to put in the kids' goodie bags.

Well, actually I ended up asking my kids and my sister, Casandra, to make them while I worked on the cake.  They were excited to get to make them, and they had a lot of fun.  My daughter, Cara, actually made some little donuts similar to these previously when she went over to her friend's house one time.  (They used Nutella and some different little toppings on theirs.)  I thought they were a really cute and fun idea.  So, to make ours, I put a little bit of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry buttercream icing in three separate bowls and put them in the microwave  about 5-10 seconds, just to thin the icing a little bit.  Then Casandra and the kids got Cheerios, dipped the top halves in the different icings, and then dipped them into different kinds of sprinkles.  And there you have it - some cute little baby donuts.  :)  We separated them into dozens, wrapped them up, and included one dozen in each goodie bag.  I thought a cute idea would have been to put them in tiny white boxes, but I just didn't have enough time to see what was out there.

Rainbow Cookies - November 2008

I made these Care Bear themed rainbow cookies to put in the kids' goodie bags at my daughter, Carissa's, 4th birthday party.

To make these rainbow cookies I mixed up some sugar cookie dough which I then separated into 3 sections.  I used food coloring to tint one ball of dough pink, one ball of dough yellow, and one ball of dough blue.  I set the yellow and blue aside for a bit and worked with the pink first.

I thinned the pink dough with some water to get a consistency that I could pipe the dough using a piping bag & decorating tip.  I used a medium sized round tip and piped the large pink arcs of the rainbows onto some parchment paper.  After I was done piping the pink arcs I thinned the yellow dough and piped the yellow arcs.  Then I did the same thing for the blue dough.  After all the rainbows were complete I baked the cookies.

I thought they looked pretty cute, and it was a neat alternative to painting them or using icing to get the different colors.

Holy Cake and Ice Cream, Batman! - July 2007

I made these Robin themed cakes for my daughter, Cara's, 8th birthday.  Robin was her favorite superhero, so she had a Robin themed party.

Help!  Robin!  The building is on fire!  :)

For the building I baked a 15x15 cake and cut it into 9 sections.  Then I stacked the sections on top each other.  I iced the building with buttercream icing tinted gray.  I used yellow fondant for the windows and outlined everything to give it that cartoon/comic book look. 

The only non edible things on the cake are the metal wire that Robin's bat line is connected to (it runs through the cake and is attached to the underside of the board) and the bat line, which is just a piece of black elastic cording that I had leftover from making Robin masks for the kids at the party.

Robin is made out of fondant.  Yes, I know he looks a little LEGOish with the yellow skin and all.  I used some leftover yellow fondant from the windows to make him and then painted it with food coloring.  I think I thought painting over it with a little orange would make it look a little more peach and not so yellow, but it didn't work so well.  :)  My original plan was to have Joker on top of the building and a person that he captured and tied up, but I ran out of time (hence the yellow Robin :) ).  Just pretend Joker and the person he captured are inside the building.  :)

I made these Robin cookies to put in the kids' goodie bags.  I used a gingerbread boy cutter to get the shape.  After they baked I painted them with food coloring and/or a food coloring pen to make it look like Robin.  The cape is made out of yellow Fruit Roll-Up.  I had seen some Superman cookies like this online that someone had made back when I was looking for stuff for Caleb's Superman party (see the It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman! post).  I thought they were so cute.  Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make them for Caleb's party, but when Cara wanted a Robin party I realized they could work for Robin too.
