School Nurse Thank You Cake - June 2015
At the end of the school year I made this cake for the nurse at my daughter Carissa's school. She had been there almost the whole time Carissa had been in school and we found out that she was going to be going to a different school the next year. We really loved her as our school nurse and decided to make her this cake as a thank you/we'll miss you gift.

Retro Video Game Cake - April 2015
I made this retro video game themed cake for my son Caleb's 13th birthday. It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it. I tried a new technique and it didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would.

Most Everyone's Mad Here... About Cake! - March 2015
I made these Alice in Wonderland themed teacup cakes and this Cheshire Cat teapot cake for my sister Casandra for her birthday. She was having a Mad Hatter Tea Party for her birthday party and had requested these for her cake. She had seen a Cheshire Cat teapot pin and thought it would make a cute cake. She also asked for some teacup cakes decorated however I thought would be cute, and these are what I came up with.

Christmas Chocolate and Peppermint Mini Cupcakes - December 2014
Why did I make an army of mini cupcakes you ask? Well... we gave some to my daughter Carissa's two teachers. My husband took some to one of his clients at work and used some for part of his gift he was bringing for a gift exchange at work. We gave our good friends a container of them, and a container of them went to a bake sale my son's band was having. We kept the extra ones for us to enjoy at home and to share with family. In total there were 114 mini cupcakes!
The next two pictures were taken before I put the leaves on the cupcakes with the red sixlets on them, but the first one shows the cute part of the white cupcake liners. It gets hidden when you use them. 😕 These pictures also show the cupcakes with the white and green sixlets on them a little closer and better. And of course you could choose not to put the leaves on and just leave it topped with the red sixlet.
I put the cupcakes in some plastic Christmas themed containers and attached little peppermint labels that I'd made to the lids.
Everyone loved the cupcakes! Yay! 😄

Have a Holly Jolly Christmas Cupcake - December 2014
I made these chocolate and peppermint holly berry cupcakes for my husband to give to his employees for a Christmas treat.
All boxed and ready to go!
I had some batter left so I made some for us to have at home and share with family. I used some poinsettia cupcake liners that my sister Valerie had bought me, and I played around with some different decorations for these.

Chocolate Cake Balls with Tiny Green Flowers - November 2014
I made these cake balls for my brother-in-law Brad as a get well soon treat after he got burned on his hands, face, and torso. (The cake balls got jostled around on the car trip up there, we were visiting for Thanksgiving, hence the scuffed up look. I didn't take any pictures of them before we left. 😕)
To make the basic cake balls, I followed Bakerella's instructions. You can find them here.
After dipping them I topped them with the little green flowers that I had made ahead of time. They are just made from mint green fondant that I colored, rolled out, and cut flowers out using a tiny flower cutter. I shaped the flower a little by using the small end of a ball fondant tool to make a depression in the center of the flower.
You'll want to make sure you have your decorations ready so you can place them on top of the cake ball before the chocolate hardens. I topped some of the cake balls with one flower in the center, and for others I used three flowers.
After all the cake balls were dipped and topped with the flowers, I used a small paint brush to put some white food coloring in the centers of the flowers.
